05/04/18 : FIM Europe Trial Championship on the go! / Campionato Europeo Trial FIM al via!

The 27th edition of the FIM Europe Trial Championship will start in Castilloli, Spain, next weekend, with races both on Saturday and Sunday. A 5-round series that will award titles in the categories Europe, Junior, Over 40, Women and Youth.

In Castilloli the event is held inside a road circuit. It is located near Barcelona. He had already hosted the last round of the 2008 Trial World Championship. On Saturday the Youth’s and Women’s will be on stage, while on Sunday they will be the turn of the most blazoned classes.

A significative news of the European Championship, already in force last year, is no longer having the restriction not to let the world top riders to attend or who had already won a title. This fact implies to loose a little that role of being just a launch pad to more coveted world goals, but meanwhile it gest the benefit of re-motivating riders with an excellent but that however no longer find glory in the World Championship.

It could happen that for the first time it could be crowned a pilot, who has already won this trophy. In the main class there is the return of Italian thirty year old Matteo Grattarola (Montesa) champion in 2012, but the new young generation will not leave him to win again easy. Starting with the English brothers Dan and Jack Peace (both on Gas Gas) or Toby Martin (Montesa) and the Spaniard Francesc Moret (Montesa).

An interesting return in the Over 40 class is represented by Italian Piero Sembenini (Montesa), a former rider several times in point-zone in the 90s world championship. From the young French Ugo Defrese (Gas Gas), a proof of undisputed good skill is expected in the Junior class.

In the category reserved for women, here is another opportunity for the two-time German champion Theresa Bauml (Montesa) to show her value.

The other rounds of this championship are scheduled on the 26th and 27th of May in Krzeszowice, Poland, (Youth and Women), opposed to a weekend only for Europe, Junior and Over 40 categories on 7th and 8th of July in Isola 2000, France. Two other weekends similar to this one – with competition for Women’s and Youth’s on Saturday and on Sunday all the others – will be in Santo Stefano d’Aveto, Italy on August 4th and 5th and in Bilstain Belgium the following week-end.
